One of the reasons that made this song a huge success and popular than its lyrics was the performance by Gene Kelly dancing in a rainstorm on this song, which also helped achieve the third spot in the American Film Institute ranking of 100 years, 100 songs.
As simple and charming as this song is to vibe to, it has a very unusual and defined form with 32- bar chorus at the opening of the song, then followed by a 24- bar verse that has the feeling of a bridge right before the chorus repeats.
