Arrow Video releases April 2018 - Suzuki, Miike and De Palma

There’s another solid selection of releases coming this April from Arrow. For a rundown of the Arrow Academy releases during this same month check out this article:

http://cinemasfringes.com/movie-articles/?post_id=389&title=arrow-academy-world-cinema-blu-ray-releases-april-2018

The regular Arrow Video slate commences on the 2nd of April 2018 with Takashi Miike’s hugely violent but equally entertaining Manga adaptation Blade of the Immortal. It’s a must for anyone who enjoyed the early-70s Lone Wolf and Cub series. It will be available on Blu Ray (Standard and Steelbook editions) as well as DVD.

On the 16th of April 2018 the Dual Format boxed set Seijun Suzuki: The Early Years - Vol. 2. Border Crossing: The Crime and Action Movies is released. It is the follow-up to Seijun Suzuki: The Early Years. Vol. 1 Seijun Rising: The Youth Movies which is due to be released in February. Combined, these two sets must surely be a veritable treasure trove for fans of the director (who is best known for such cult favourites as Branded to Kill and Tokyo Drifter).

We also get two Standard Edition versions of previous Arrow releases. The first is Shock Treatment, the little-seen sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Richard O’Brien from the original plus Jessica Harper from Suspiria. It is released on a Blu Ray only format on the 9th of April 2018. The second is the 4K restored version of Carrie, Brian De Palma’s classic 1976 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. It’s still one of the finest De Palma films, one of the best Stephen King adaptations and one of the top horror films of the 1970s - so if you’ve missed the chance to pick up the Limited Edition version (released in December last year) then you might want to take this second opportunity. This Dual Format release will arrive on 16th April 2018.
