Frank Sidebottom The Home of the Retrospective

A Dandy in Aspic (1968) dir: Anthony Mann Blu Ray (Indicator)

Director Mann's swansong was completed by star Laurence Harvey when the former passed away before the end of filming. It is overly convoluted but maintains a strange atmosphere of paranoia. Also starring Tom Courtenay, Mia Farrow, Harry Andrews and Peter Cook.

Georgy Girl (1966) starring Lynn Redgrave Blu Ray (Indicator)

A visually average but personality-rich young woman finds love in this breezy and hilarious 1960s British New Wave comedy-drama. Some dated attitudes don't spoil the fun here. Also starring Alan Bates, James Mason and Charlotte Rampling.

Death Line (1972) starring Donald Pleasance Blu Ray (Network)

Mind the doors! If you can buy the implausible premise of cannibals descended from former London Tube construction workers, then this intelligent and gruesome horror is for you. Donald Pleasance gives an enjoyable, eccentric performance as the determinedly working class police inspector on the case.

The Case of the Scorpion's Tail (1971) Blu Ray (Arrow)

This typically entertaining Sergio Martino giallo makes up for its convoluted and contrived plot with some energetic setpieces and blood-splattered murders.
