EIFF 2018: Flammable Children aka Swinging Safari (2018)

Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue, Radha Mitchell and Julian McMahon are cast against type in an off-colour retro comedy set in an Australian seaside town in the 1970s which was inspired by writer-director Stephan Elliott's own childhood. Lots of fun - provided that you are not easily offended.

On Chesil Beach (2017) starring Saoirse Ronan

This drama of love tragically doomed by sexual difficulties, set in the stifling climate of early 1960s Britain, is powerful and well-acted fare despite occasional missteps.
