EIFF 2019: Schemers (2019) dir: David McLean

This Dundee-set drama is based around the early days of music promoter David McLean’s career. While rather underbudgeted, it makes up for it somewhat via its undeniable spunk and energy. Starring Conor Berry, Tara Lee, Sean Connor and Grant R. Keelan.

Jimmy Hendrickx and Kristian Van der Heyden's documentary takes a compelling look at a Muslim punk movement which has emerged from the social conservatism and glaring inequalities of Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta. This review is based on a 90% complete work in progress seen at EIFF 2018.
